Expatriates Unit

  • Documents issued by an EU Member State which are not in the English language will only be accepted if translated by an Identità authorised translator. In this case, the translated document does not need to be legalised or apostilled. A list of authorised translators may be found Here;
  • Documents issued by an EU Member State which are not in the English language and translated by persons not in the authorised list of translators must be apostilled or legalised;
  • Documents issued by Third Countries (non-EU) which are in the English language must be legalised or apostilled;
  • Documents issued by Third Countries (non-EU) that are not in the English language must be translated into English by an authorised translator and legalised or apostilled. A list of authorised translators may be found HERE;
  • All translations of documents issued by Third Countries (non-EU) made outside Malta or the EU must be apostilled or legalised.

 

The submission of fraudulent, forged or false documentation or documents obtained under false pretence is subject to prosecution in accordance with Maltese Legislation.
