Temporary Permits are intended for short term to medium term residence in Malta for specific, clearly defined purposes. As per the Temporary Permits Policy, these permits are intended to address exceptional, humanitarian, family related, or purpose bound circumstances where an individual needs to reside in Malta but does not fall standard migration status established by law.

A Temporary Permit does not automatically confer the right to employment or entitlement to social services. Access to employment and services varies by category and is regulated in line with national laws. All applications must be submitted online and are assessed individually to confirm that the applicant meets the conditions outlined in the relevant policy.
