On 8 January, the Maltese Government launched a new Labour Migration Policy for public consultation, which closed on 9 February.
The policy aims to modernise and strengthen Malta’s labour migration system by balancing economic needs with social priorities and safeguarding workers’ rights.
Some measures will begin to be implemented as of 1st August 2025. All relevant stakeholders, and most importantly, employers, are strongly advised to familiarise themselves with these changes and start addressing the new requirements. This will ensure that any applications submitted from 1st August onwards are fully compliant.
