The Residence Permit’s validity depends on the conditions at the time of original issuance of the permit, including the specific employment undertaken and the employer. The same permit is not valid for employment with a different employer or in a different position/designation.

In the eventuality of a job termination, the employer who applied for the specific Residence Permit:

• is obliged by law to submit a Termination Form to Jobsplus within four (4) days of the termination date (as per Legal Notice 110 of 1993 and Act No. XXVII Employment Training Services (Amendment) Act, and Legal Notice 226 of 2016);
• must inform the Expatriates Unit at Identità within four (4) days of the termination date either by:
  • submitting an online termination request as per section ‘How to submit a Withdrawal or Revocation Request’ on User Manual, or;
  • by sending an e-mail to worktermination.identita@gov.mt.
