Identity Cards Unit
The Identity Cards Unit (ICU) responsibilities fall under the Identity Card and other Identity Documents Act (Chapter 258 of the Laws of Malta), which states that every Maltese national over the age of fourteen shall be in possession of a valid identity card.
The Identity Cards Unit is responsible for issuing electronic Identity Cards to Maltese Citizens and registering e-ID (Virtual) accounts for individuals.
